Drop down ye Heavens from above is a free fantasia upon the plainchant Rorate Coeli desuper. It is scored for 12 solo voices or SSSAAATTTBBB chorus, with obbligato trumpet solo and organ. It was commissioned by James Wilcox for Stephen Farr and the Choir of St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, London, and first performed at the Advent Service held in the church on Tuesday 4th December 2012. The occasion was led by Alexander Armstrong and graced by poetry and prose readings by the late Sir Terry Wogan and a number of distinguished members of the acting profession.
